REST API documentation and tutorials updated

Hey sorry for not updating this blog in a while, we’re going to try to keep this more up-to-date in the future. We’re usually working rather than talking about working! But we think maybe you’ll appreciate knowing what’s happening.

Since WordPress added the WP API to WordPress 4.4, we added the EE4 REST API to Event Espresso 4.8.29.

We just thought developers should be made aware that we’ve just finished updating all our EE4 REST API documentation and tutorials on developer.eventespresso.com.

Most of the old documentation for the EE4 JSON REST API plugin is still available here, but they’re deprecated. So maybe you want to still refer to that if you already have an API client application using the EE4 JSON REST API provided by the plugin, but going forward it’s suggested to start using the EE4 REST API provided in core. It’s much easier for site admins to enable because it’s enabled by default (ie they don’t need to install the WP API v1 and the EE4 JSON REST API plugin). You can find the new EE4 REST API documentation with the rest of the EE4 documentation here.

Also worth highlighting: we’ve added the checkin/checkout endpoint to the EE4 REST API in 4.8.33. With this, mobile apps and any other API client can check attendees into or out of an event. (This was especially important for the work on our mobile apps which is well underway.)
